A bit about me...
I grew up in Orkney...surrounded by fields, hills and close to the sea. I was very lucky to have music in my life from a young age. My mum says I could sing before I could talk.
I performed in the very first Orkney folk festival when I was 13, folk music has been a big part of my life and continues to be the music I perform with my Choir and lovely band 'Tamesas'.
I left Orkney for Drama college in London when I was 21 (bit of a culture shock)...I have a degree in Community Theatre from Rose Brudford. I worked in theatre as an actor and a musician for several years before giving up the acting lark to focus on music.
I left London and went to play with a band in Dublin called 'Anam'. We got signed to JVC and made several albums, toured the world, played a fabulous festivals and had a blast.
Since then I moved back to Orkney for 8 years, then back to London, I've raised two fabulous boys (an actor and a singer...the apple doesn't fall etc!), gained a second husband and two lovely step kids.
Here in London over the years (14!), I've run a lot of community projects, worked with several well known theatre companies, worked for EFDSS, trained many aspiring and professional young actors and singers, discovered Estill Voice Training and become an EMT, worked for two University's and run three choirs...hmmmmm, I've been and I still am, pretty busy.
I now also work for the amazing Tom Burke Voice Studio as their Director of Education...if you'd like to do an Estill Course...check this out!
I love working with people, empowering them to do things they thought they might not be able to do. I feel very lucky to have been able to live my life working in the arts and with artists. It's safe to say, I love my Job(s)!
